My estimate after two full days of SNF is fewer airplanes than previous years, fewer venders than previous years, less attendees than in previous years, and much less rain than last year. Folks, the weather has been great. The field is still dusty, but apparently a decision to burn the grass off the aircraft parking areas several weeks ago is the main problem. That probably should have been done several months ago instead of recently. There is nice green grass, but lots of soot in the sand. All aircraft parked in the vintage and homebuilt areas are covered in fine sooty dust every day. But hey, we are having fun in the sun. The Lightning and Jabiru booths always seem to have lots of people looking over the airplanes. So if that is any kind of indicator, this should be a good show for both companies. I even saw several of my Bonanza and Baron buddies looking over the Lightning and Jabiru. Just from listening in to the Arion team as they talk to potential customers, it looks like most shoppers are looking for an aircraft that meets light sport parameters. So that trend is apparently continuing. There is still plenty of parking room in the homebuilt area, so come on down. I have not seen any Lightnings parked out there yet, but we do have two Esquals - N31BZ and Allan Maxwell's. However, tomorrow afternoon World Record Earl will be arriving. No they are not going to stop the airshow for him, he will plan his arrival for after the afternoon airshow is over. The Lightning get together is still on for Friday at noon. We will meet at the Lightning booth. If you know where the FAA building is, the Lightning booth is on the road behind that building. See you there.
