I've got the big daft single down pipe on my exhaust and have to cut out
the cowling to go round it.
How much should I make the gap so that the fibreglass doesn't get
scorched?
I've got about 1/8" at the moment, enough?
Regards, Clive

Clive,
1/8=94 should be ok. I would go with a =BC=94. Than you can get some
=BC=94 thick PVC
pipe and slide it over the tail pipe for a spacer, than lay glass from
the
cowl over the pipe to make a exhaust tunnel, looks really good.

Clive,
I would also recommend 1/4" as Nick suggested. Remember the engine
will actually move around a little in flight as you pull Gs. Those rubber
shock mounts really help to reduce any major vibrations from being
transmitted to the fuselage, but they do allow the engine to move around some
- as
they were designed to do. The exhaust tunnel that Nick mentioned really does
look nice and gives a great finished look. Might even add at least 50
knots. ;-)

It does look super nice. Much like a Cirrus exhaust or something. Didn't
some Esqual's use the same type of material that you wrap headers for your
car on the inside of the cowl in tight spots by the exhaust to keep from bu
bbling the paint? Brian W.
