    The 'tunnel' sounds a good idea which I'll fit. Thanks. Next question, how long should I make the end on the exhaust that comes out of the cowling? Currently it's 10" out of the bottom of the cowling which puts the tail pipe 6.5 inches clear of the fuselage belly. I figure I can trim some off, after flying my Jabiru with hot feet for 10 years I'd like to avoid that but minimise the protuberance (big word...). Remember the engine will actually move around a little in flight as you pull Gs. Those rubber shock mounts really help to reduce any major vibrations from being transmitted to the fuselage, but they do allow the engine to move around some - as they were designed to do. The exhaust tunnel that Nick mentioned really does look nice and gives a great finished look.     Subject: Max length on oil cooler feed hoses

    Well my plan to fit the cooler up front seems doomed to failure so It will need to go on the firewall ala Lightning, thing is my battery is already in the way for the pilots side mount. So, does any one know what length I can make the hoses? To fit my cooler on the other side and they'll be 1.1 metres or 3.6 feet each way, lots of extra cooling but what about the flow business? Any idea of max length, AN6 fittings and hose and the donut bored out with 1/4 npt fittings? Regards, Clive

    Clive, In the long run, I think you would be better off moving the battery to the co-pilot's side (the way Esqual should have designed it to start with - but don't get me started on all the things Esqual should have done differently). By moving the heavy battery to the co-pilot side you now have the heaviest weight on the side of the aircraft that is usually un-occupied (when you fly solo) and by putting the oil cooler on the pilot side the oil cooler lines can be much shorter. That is one key to a successful oil cooling set up. Also where possible avoid 90 degree fittings to the cooler to help with oil flow. 45 degree fittings are better and straight fittings even better, but not always possible.     Hi Mark: How is your 601 coming? I don't know if you heard, but I have had to put my Lightning up for sale. They cut back my work about 50% and I can't afford to keep it.
