| Subject: | OSH update - Thursday PM |
Busy day today with a steady arrival of vintage aircraft. No doubt that
by tomorrow evening the best spots in vintage (near the theater in the
woods) will probably be full. We stayed pretty much busy most of the day so I
did not get a chance to "explore" the other areas to see how many homebuilts
had arrived or newer storebought aircraft were in the north forty. May
try to check it out early tomorrow morning before we get busy again. Weather
here was great all day. This afternoon a group of showers and thunder
cells moved from west to east but they were all south of the field here.
Current forecast for tomorrow is for a 40% chance of thunderstorms and showers
after 1300 local.
Talked to several people today that actually knew what a Lightning was and
I think I have one of them convinced they should check it out before
deciding to build an RV-12. Another builder from Kentucky is actually building
a
12 and I spend some time this evening convincing him to go with a Jabiru
vice the Rotax that the 12 plans show. I am going to get him talking with
Pete and Ben about using his 12 fuselage for them to design a firewall
forward kit for the Jabiru on the RV-12. He was glad to talk to someone about
the Jabiru that actually had quite a bit of time flying behind them.
No more news other than to try to convince all of you to make the trip to
OSH. Long range forecast is for great weather for the show. If early
attendance is a good indicator, this should be a great year.

I forgot to mention that a TFR has been issued for this afternoon and
Friday around the greater Chicago area corresponding with a visit by the
President to that region. If you need to transit the area on your way to Oshkosh
tomorrow, please check it out and plan accordingly.
