I think this could turn out to be one of the busiest OSH conventions in
several years. I heard that the north forty filled up today and "store
bought" aircraft were turned away. In the vintage area we maybe have room for
about 80 more aircraft total. Homebuilt was full and they actually started
parking homebuilt aircraft in the homebuilt camping area. Warbird area is
looking good also. So overall a great year.
Jim, your Lightning is in the main Lightning display area along with the
silver demo Lightning. The new SLSA LS-1 Lightning is in the Light Sport
Mall. I saw all of the Tennessee crew today as well as the Green Landing
bunch, Tom Hoffman from the Wisconsin gang, Greg and Crystal Hobbs from
Arizona, and Dave Jalanti from the North East Lightning dealership. Of course
Pete and Barb are there as well. I hope I didn't miss anyone. Nick, Pete,
and Mark seem to think that their new display area near the main walk in
gate (and near the big names in aviation) will be a good area for them. They
had a steady stream of visitors not only today, but also yesterday before
the show started.
The August issue of Sport Aviation is out and the much anticipated write up
on the Lightning story is NOT in this issue as we had been told. Maybe it
will be in September. Lets all hope so. I don't know why it is hard to
get press coverage from EAA on this great story about how some hangar talk
at an EAA chapter meeting was the start of the successful Lightning design.
More rain late this afternoon resulted in the afternoon airshow being
cancled. I had a wet ride back to my camp on the gold cart. Lets hope
tomorrow's weather is CAVU all day. Hey, I shouldn't complain. Overall the
weather has been pretty good while I have been here.
More tomorrow (if l have time).

I'm staying just across from the AP in Fond Du
Lac & it looks like they have quite a bunch
Of AC that stopped off there. It was amazing to see
How many more campers were @ Oshkosh today than
Yesterday.
