Subject: | Re: Odyssey battery PC 625 |
I have an Odyssey PC 625 in my airplane (the engine is a Rotax 912).
I think they produce very high quality batteries.
I installed the battery new in 2005 and it has performed flawlessly
ever since. It started my engine without any hesitation after sitting
6 months in an unheated hangar.
This kind of battery (sealed lead-acid, AGM) is known for its ability
to keep a charge for a long time. I would measure the current
directly at the battery (remove the positive lead and insert an
ammeter) to determine what load is on the battery when all equipment
is supposed to be off.
It may be that there is some external reason for the battery's discharge.
Best Regards,

Subject: | Friday OSH report |
This will be short as I am waiting on friends while the afternoon airshow
is in progress. However, I did want to let everyone know that the noon
Lightning get together at their booth was a great success. We will have some
photos when I get the next newsletter out, but until then just let me say
the turnout of people was great. Lots of previous Lightning builders and
flyers were there to help answer questions from those interested in the
Lightning. I met folks from Canada, Australia and New Zealand (and the US of
course) and all seemed very interested in gaining more info on the airplane
and the build process. This large turnout is in line with the walk in
traffic that they have had at their booth all week, so obviously Pete, Ben and
Nick did a great job of choosing a new location for the Jabiru and Lightning
booths. As a closing thought, just let me say that if I had a dollar for
everyone I heard say this is the best looking light sport airplane here, I
would have plenty of cash for my return trip. And if you don't agree, you
own our beer fund for the September annual Lightning get together at least
$10.00. If you do agree, you can also send $10.00 for the beer fund for
the September get together. Send a check to Dana. :-)
