Bear,
Please fly, don't drive. I don't want to be the only Lightning in the
Experimental park this year.

Right on, World Record Earl, you tell 'em. We need lots of Lightnings in
homebuilt parking. Heck, there are already at least two RV-12s.

Subject: | Sun N Fun Update |
All
Another nice day here at Lakeland Airport. Tomorrow is the opening
day for Sun N Fun, and if I had to guess, I would say the total number of
aircraft is down somewhat from the last few years. That is certainly the case
in Vintage parking and homebuilt parking. Haven't really looked at the
general aircraft parking areas.
The Lightning and Jabiru booths are all set up and I must say that the
three Lightnings now here are outstanding examples of EAB Lightnings and
the LS-1. In the main display Lightning booth is Jim Johannes' and Greg
Crouchley's EAB Lightnings, and in the Light Sport Mall is Ed Ryan's LS-1. Up
until this morning I had only seen photos of all three of these aircraft
and I must say that the photos did not do justice to these three beautiful
airplanes. All are outstanding examples of the Lightning. So a big salute
to Jim, Greg, Ed, and to the Tennessee bunch and the Green Landings gang
for their outstanding workmanship.
Also ran into Bill Strahan and his GPS partner, Walt, in exhibit
building E. They are here with their iFly 700 GPS that was featured in the
April Lightning Newsletter. Be sure to drop by their booth to say hello. For
those not thoroughly familiar with the Sun N Fun layout, there are four
exhibit buildings in a row (A-D). Exhibit building E is further north through
the trees towards the drive in camping area. That building used to be the
parts mart some years ago. And by the way, Greg Crouchley was apparently
their first official Sun N Fun customer, as he has bought one of their GPS
units and the show has not started yet. Super.
If you are here tomorrow, don't forget the Lightning forum at 1300 in
forum tent 11. Be there to cheer on Nick and Mark as they tap dance their
way into the hearts and minds of the sun n fun crowd.
Blue Skies,
Buz

I've seen their "Tennessee Waltz". Like Buz said you mileage may vary....
Big logistics issue for me flying there...hangar door is locked in the dow
n position. Looks like a lightning hit to the wiring. No hand crank avail
able and it's a BIG door...Probably Thursday before it can be fixed. Also
got a cnx from my buddy who is my ride form the grounds to the hotel. So
If I can get the hangar door up and fly over, I still can't get back and
forth to the hotel (12 miles away...). so it looks more like a 4 wheeler
than a 3....
