Subject: | Re: Wheel Balancing results within the week... |
Well, within a week, give or take. In my two year experiment with weird infections,
I got a tick bite while in Arkansas the day before Memorial Day and it quickly
became apparent I had picked something up from the critter. I haven't
had as much as a cold in the last year, and suddenly this. Oh well. I'm on antibiotics
that kill everything, including my body's attempts to digest food.
:(
I did get back out to the hangar on Friday and got both wheels balanced. I was
very happy with the balancer, it proved to be ultra sensitive and the results
were repeatable so I felt confident in the balancing done.
In each case, the wheel was light on the side with the valve stem. That seemed
strange, but the red dot and the valve stem were on the same side, and for one
wheel it took 1.25 ounces on the rim to balance it. The other took 1.5 ounces
in the same spot.
I took a couple of short videos, and will hopefully fly tomorrow with wheelpants
off. If all is well I'll put the pants back on, fly again, and will report
on the results.
I sure hope the shimmy is gone. It's the one thing keeping me from taking passengers
right now, because I just don't like explaining it. It's just enough to
be unsettling.
Bill
