Subject: | Wed evening - OSH update |
Lots of drying today with warm weather, low humidity, and some wind, and
the mowers were working almost everywhere. This afternoon they opened up
the parting areas and we were quite busy most of the afternoon. So things
are looking more like normal with four days to go. If there is any bad news,
it is that rain is forecast for tomorrow. Don't know how much, but
hopefully the ground can take it.
Guess who landed at OSH today? Our British newsletter correspondent,
Clive James and his lovely bride, Shirley, from Norfolk (No, not Norfolk,
Virginia, the real Norfolk in England). Clive called me on my cell and we were
able to finally meet face to face for the first time since we have been
corresponding via email for probably three years. I know all of you have
enjoyed Clive's articles in past Lightning Newsletters. They only stayed a
short while as they are flying around this part of the US for a few days
before the official start of AirVenture. They will be back on Monday (opening
day) and hope to meet many Lightning enthusiast in the booth.
>From here on out I may get too busy to send additional updates, but will
try to continue to do so. Just wanted to provide a heads up incase I miss a
day or more. Still looking forward to seeing everyone on Monday next
week.
Blue Skies,
Buz

Hope not to bore all, but thought this info should be passed on. Did all
testing within a 2 hour time period, same temp, same altitudes. at 2 pm went
up and had wot of 3110, installed a 1/2 inch spacer on air filter that would
keep air filter 1/2 inch further from firefall, went up again and had wot of
3160. then changed scat tube out for rubber tube from cowl to air box and
had wot of 3230, but had egts of 1420 and 1160, not willing to give up rpms
installed a plate in outlet of air box knowing this to be a hit or miss.
what a hit, egt at wot within 10, at cruise within 35 and within 15 below
cruise. Have photos if any would like them, I am still excited about this
