There is a light rain falling at the moment, but forecast is for it to stop
this morning and the afternoon should be dry. In fact, looking at the
next four days, there is no more rain in the forecast of OSH. Super.
As a reminder, today are two forums that you will want to attend. At 0830
Pete will be giving the Jabiru forum and at 1000, Nick will be giving the
Lightning forum. If you are here, be sure to attend these and show your
support. I plan to be at both and get some photos for the newsletter.
Our esteemed British Newsletter writer, Clive James, was at the show Monday
and Tuesday, but will be continuing his US adventure today as he heads to
Chicago and then DC before flying back to the UK. It was great to finally
meet him and Shirley after all these years. Jolly Good Chap! And
Chapette.
Even thought AirVenture got off to a somewhat wet start, once the show
started it has been a good show so far. Every time I have been by the
Lightning booth or the Light Sport Mall, I see lots of people looking at the
airplanes and asking questions. Crowds all around the event seem about the
same
as previous years. I have only seen or heard of one major aircraft
accident, but at least in this one no fatalities. Yesterday evening around
7
PM
a Beech Jet had a hard landing and broke in half just forward of the
engines. From the registration, which looked like N6JR, it might be a Jack
Roush
airplane.
Blue skies,
Buz

Unfortunately I am not at Oshkosh, but one update I can add is that the Beec
h jet was a Premier 1. Jack Roush at the helm and passenger was Brenda Stri
ckland. The jet broke in half around the tail section. Jack is in serious
b
ut stable condition with some pretty bad lacerations to his face. Brenda ha
s non-life threatening injuries. Both came out under their own power. Stop
by the B17 Texas Raiders and say hello for me. I've recently become a memb
er of the Gulf Coast Wing that maintains her. If you could see what she loo
ked like 2-3 years ago with no wings, engines off, stored outside in the ele
ments with little hope of flying again to now flying and touring the country
you would be amazed. Thanks, Brian W.
