Dave, does that mean back to the original EGT before your changes (wide range of EGTs) or does that mean you are back to the more evenly spaced EGTs? Linda and I put the vane modification in her air box outlet that leads to the carb (still using scat tube) and her EGTs then were much closer on spread from highest to lowest (like maybe 60 degrees) than before the mod. Prior to that we had tried twisting the carb and also the smooth hose with no real help. We will have to wait to see if cooler OATs have any real effect on the EGT spread. Buz

Buz, did you position the vane vertical or horizontal? Tex, it is vertical, starts near the beginning of the air box out put tube and extends about 3/4 inch past the end of that tube into the scat hose to the carb. It is also exactly streamlined with the airflow. My plan was to slightly deflect it to one side or the other if the EGTs were still uneven from one side to the other. No need to do that - it helped as is. The vane is held in place with two pulled rivets, but at some time in the future the plan is to either replace the pulled rivets with AN ones, or epoxy it in place. I don't want them working loose and have a part of them going into the carb. Hope this helps. Buz In a message dated 9/26/2010 2:42:01 P.M.
