Subject: | November 2010 Lightning Newsletter |
All,
The November 2010 issue of the Lightning Newsletter was sent to the
websites that carry our newsletters this past Tuesday. As of early this
morning, it is posted on Max and Olena's (the Florida Lightning dealer) web
site, but I am sure it will soon also be available at the Arion site and the
Green Landings site at well. In the past, Jim Langley had posted our
newsletters on his site, but I noticed they have not been posted there since the
August issue, so I guess I will remove that site form our list. Here are
the sites where you can read the latest "Hangar Talk" newsletter.
_http://www.flylightning.net/_ (http://www.flylightning.net/)
_http://www.greenlandings.com/_ (http://www.greenlandings.com/)
_http://moonshineaviation.com/_ (http://moonshineaviation.com/)
(posted there now)
Featured in this issue are two lead articles. First is Moonshine
Aviation's demo aircraft which is this month's Lightning of the Month. There
is
also a great write up by Olena about building their jet. Beautiful airplane.
Next is the recap of the October Lightning Fly-In with lots of photos that
were sent to me by some of the folks attending. I think you will enjoy
seeing the beautiful airplanes and beautiful Lightning people that were
attending this year's fun event. Race results for the Friday evening creeper
events and the Saturday afternoon aircraft (mini Reno) race are posted for
all to see. Congratulations to Rick, Carl, and Earl - they each went home
with a Golden Bolt Trophy award.
In the News From the Factory section Nick answers some questions that were
posted by Tex in a previous message to the Lightning email list. Great
info. There are some other photos and news on other things that have been
going on in Tennessee.
There are also some great inputs in the other various sections - News from
Builders and Flyers, Reader Feedback, Flying Safety Tips, Technical Tips,
etc. Thanks to all of you that sent things for the newsletter.
Also, once again there is a top secret project that is being shown for the
first time in the now famous Skunk Works section.
Since this November 2010 issue of the Lightning newsletter is now
published, I will be only writing two more issues as the newsletter editor.
January 2011 will be the 36th issue that I have written and the last one that
I
will be doing. I will still be ocasionally writing for the newsletter, but
will leave the leadership of the newsletter up to the new editor. Who will
that be? Volunteers?
As always, I am requesting feedback on the newsletter and will pass your
suggestions on to the next NCIC - Newsletter Commander in Chief. Remember I
depend on you for content, article suggestions, and your comments for
improvement. Don't be a stranger - write me with your suggestions or just to
say hello.
Blue Skies and happy flying,
Buz Rich

Great read as always,
Seems like it's almost time to start assigning volunteers, Buz!

What I found was that us older guys with older computers: first, it takes a
lot longer to load all those fancy picture things, second, we look for
writing to read, not pictures to click on. I did not have any luck the first
time I went to Max's web site either. I clicked on the link to Pete's web
site, and did not find the November newsletter. I wrote Buz and told him then
went back to Max's site. I saw the picture and clicked on it and low and
behold there was the November news letter. Eventually a whole bunch of
pictures loaded with all the news letters.

All,
The November 2010 issue of the Lightning Newsletter was sent to the
websites that carry our newsletters this past Tuesday.

Don't be a stranger - write me with your suggestions or just to
say hello.
Blue Skies and happy flying,
Buz Rich

To Group,
As a follow up this month's outstanding newsletter are some pictures not
previously available. (I didn't have the foresight to send them along with
the article)
These pictures show the new rudder cable to rudder attach design.

Good thing I gave my workstation to my dad and doing that site from my
laptop. That thing had a 28" screen, would probably need to scroll left and
right, not just top to bottom.
There is a couple of reasons the Newsletters are set up the way they are -
first, you don't need Adobe Acrobat installed to view them (website handles
the whole thing via Flash, which is installed in, supposedly, 98% of all the
browsers), and second - my memory is visual, so I don't remember which month
and issue I'm looking for, but I rather remember the plane of the month on
the cover page.
Oh well, I'll monitor the popularity over the website tools, and if nobody
cares for the new style, I'll change it back to text.
