Subject: | Rudder cable tension |
Find a local Zenith owner/builder. With all the emphasis placed on cable
tension with the Zodiac series most owners probably bought one!

STILL upgrading! ;-)

Subject: Lightning-List: Rudder cable tension
To Group,
Not sure if we have discussed this or not but rudder cable tension. We
have always tighten the cables than looked for about 1" of deflection of the
cable when pulling up on it.
Has worked fine but thanks to Mark and a Cable tension checker he bought
fro the zenith we started playing with different tensions. We have decided
that about 25lbs works well for the Lightning.
The cables are loose enough to be free but also not stretch under
air-load.
Probably not something you want to buy for a one time thing but the cables
should be checked every year at annual so a good investment. Maybe someone
in your EAA chapter has one you can borrow.
