Subject: | Thinking about flying... |
Somewhere between the 465 deadlift and the 365 squat my body decided to delay my
goals by introducing the experience of a little bitty hernia. So I've had some
time to kill and have been dreaming about flying.
I've always wanted to fly to all 48 contiguous states, so I decided to see what
it would really take. A little time with some frustrating software and I came
up with the attached graphic. I'm lacking a few stops on the east coast, but
I just wanted to get an idea for the scope of a trip like that.
The route here results in about 7600 miles. Definitely more than a weekend, at
least in the Lightning. :)
But this would take me through every one of the lower 48. I think I'm going to
plan to do this much later this year, like when I can physically pull my plane
from the hanger.
Anyone else interested in a pointless yet meaningful trip? If so, we could just
have a varying number of pilots throughout the trip. You can join the group
when they reach your state, and you'll keep going when others reach their home
state at the end.
Maybe it's just lack of sleep and a somewhat numb mind, but this seems like fun
to me. If no takers, I'll at least take some pictures and put it up on a website
somewhere.
16 days would mean an average of 3 states a day, and require an average of less
than 500 miles/day. Seems doable.
Thoughts?
