bill, I'd love to go with you, but don't have the 16 days or so....maybe in about 3 years when I "Really" retire. If you do go, keep us updated. Bear N82PB -----Original Message----- From: Bill Strahan <bill@gdsx.com> Sent: Fri, May 27, 2011 1:24 am Subject: Lightning-List: Thinking about flying... Somewhere between the 465 deadlift and the 365 squat my body decided to del ay my oals by introducing the experience of a little bitty hernia. So I've had s ome ime to kill and have been dreaming about flying. I've always wanted to fly to all 48 contiguous states, so I decided to see what t would really take. A little time with some frustrating software and I ca me p with the attached graphic. I'm lacking a few stops on the east coast, bu t I ust wanted to get an idea for the scope of a trip like that. The route here results in about 7600 miles. Definitely more than a weekend , at east in the Lightning. :) But this would take me through every one of the lower 48. I think I'm goin g to lan to do this much later this year, like when I can physically pull my pla ne rom the hanger. Anyone else interested in a pointless yet meaningful trip? If so, we could just ave a varying number of pilots throughout the trip. You can join the group hen they reach your state, and you'll keep going when others reach their ho me tate at the end. Maybe it's just lack of sleep and a somewhat numb mind, but this seems like fun o me. If no takers, I'll at least take some pictures and put it up on a ebsite somewhere. 16 days would mean an average of 3 states a day, and require an average of less han 500 miles/day. Seems doable.
