For absolute speed with out robbing the engine of performance the Sensenich WC62FK58 is perfect. Best speed and still good climb. If you want a little better climb go with a WC62FK56. Now the SLSA LS-1 lightnings have W60zk57G props. We get very good climb with these and right at 120ktns for 2850rpm. This is again with no fairings except our LSA wheel pants. I have had guys run the W60zk57G LSA prop on non LSAs with full fairings and still get near 130knts, but with exceptional climb, better than the 62-56. The Carbon prop is fine, a little harsher in vibrations, the wood seems to dampen things and give a smoother feel. The only thing about the carbon is you won't ever get the same performance out of it as the best cruise wood prop. This is because of the blade stiffness, profile and diameter. We have done lots of prop testing here, I have several that were ok but not great and we now use them as loaners. As with anything aviation most things are a compromise. And no one prop will give it all. It seems the 2 favourites are the 62 FK58 or 62FK56 wood propellers from Sensenich What are the current recommendations for the Lightning - both Experimental and LSA. (I am building the LSA Is anyone using the Ground Adjustable Composite from Sensenich? If so what are your thoughts and what diameter is recommended - options seem to be from 60 to 64 inches. I have tried Emailing Mark and Nick but haven't received a response. Thanks Geoff Eather (Australia) PS: There may be another consideration in prop selection as the LSA in Australia is not restricted to 120 Kts ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 03:28:04 PM PST US Subject: Lightning-List: First Flight .Any Tips?
