Subject: | Lightning fly-in |
Once again I really enjoyed the yearly Lightning fly-in and homecoming this
past weekend in Shelbyville. The entire Lightning and Jabiru crew went
out of their way to plan a fun and informative event and to insure everyone
had a great time. Their hospitality was outstanding as always. Friday
evening burgers and brats in the hangar with the annual creeper races made for
an entertaining evening. Saturday's fly out to breakfast and then the
Lightning round robin races and flight planning and navigation event went
well, as did the informative briefings by Pete and Nick on he Lightning and
Jabiru engine. Saturday evening we once again all went to the Bell Buckle
Cafe for great food and socializing.
Unfortunately I forgot to take my camera, so hopefully others that were
there will share their pictures and provide a list of the race and other event
plaque winners. It was truly a fun time.
I'm everyone that was in attendance will join me in saying thanks to the
Lightning and Jabiru crew for a great weekend.
Blue Skies,
Buz
PS: As an update on Joe Mathias, I just talked to Linda this morning and
Joe is still doing OK, still in the nursing home and working on his daily
physical therapy. So please continue to keep Joe and Linda in your thoughts
and prayers.

First flight of Lightning N747HW today in West Virginia after 7 months building
. Everything went as planned with no abnormal flight characteristics and smooth
running engine. Thanks to Ryan, Walter, Chris, Curt, Doug and Buddy for all
their help and advice when needed. This is my second kit. First was a Glasair
III and took 7 years to complete. Looking forward to many happy hours of flying.
I will fly it to Connecticut after the 40 hours test phase. Harry

Congratulations Harry. I know you will enjoy your Lightning, and being a
two time offender (builder), you certainly know how to pick good airplanes.
