Picture attached and for Yahoo find it at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jabiruengines/photos/album/439839736/pic/1 33555367/view?picmode=&mode=tn&order=ordinal&start=1&count &d ir=asc The new video shows clearly the effect of the taper and the smoothness of the pressure in the system, compared to the original. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhOQmBQctHA&feature=youtu.be Original flat top: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_TCQtrfUHc&feature=related Given this is the same engine I hope that those that suggest the pump puts out the pulses will now see it isn't the case. I plan a slightly more tapered plug as the final design. The blunt end will still ensure 'relief' properties while the taper will ensure the smooth pressure control that will stop cooler damage and wear on pressure senders. Unfortunately it can't stop leakage through engine casings so my engine still needs to be split. The healthy pressure in the video drops back when the engine is warm and at tick over I only see 10 psi. The joys of Jabiru ownership..... If so, can you remind me what causes this and what you did to stop the oil thanks Bear ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 05:27:05 PM PST US Subject: Re: Lightning-List: Short wingtips From: n5pb@AOL.COM Bill, glad you're back "in the air". Probably pretty exciting to have your own h ome/hangar. Send some pics. Don't have any info on your short wings, as I'm pretty happy with the resul ts I'm getting with the longer ones. On another note, I just finished changing out all my Matco brake lines with another product. (Bonaco) I'll be doing a write up on these as I think t hey are FAR superior than the original ones that came with the brakes and n ot too expensive. All is well here in Clearwater Florida. Have a great Christmas. I flew f or he first time last week since March 31! It turns out I hadn't forgotten ho w. In any case, I've just moved to my new airport home with a hanger, and I'm inally in a position to start working on my list of things to make my Light ning he plane I want it to be. Top of the list is the short wing tips. Having flown the plane with short and ong wingtips, I much preferred the handling with the short wingtips. but t he ounded and tapered tips are about the worst design possible from a drag sta nd oint. So I'm firing this out into the list. First, any news from the factory on short ing tips with the mini-winglet? Second, anyone tried some simple blocked o ff ips like what's on a Malibu? If I make my own I'm going to go that route f or implicity. Anyone flying through the DFW area email me at bill@gdsx.com and plan a sto p at 69 and I'll be happy to meet another Lightning driver. After wanting to li ve n an airport for 20 years, I'm finally there.
