I had the oil analyzed about 18 mos ago but can't find my results; as I recall,
there was nothing unusual. Are you going to Oshkosh? I will be there
most of the week.

Linda,
I hope to see you there. Donna and I will be getting there either Friday a
fternoon or Saturday morning depending on weather. We will be there all we
ek. One or both of us will likely be at the SAFE tent (on the flight line
side of the FAA building) sometime during the day. I know I will be stoppi
ng by the Arion display from time to time.
Have a wonderful day,

Bear
No need to send another copy of your results, I didn't notice the attachmen
t the first time I read you email.
Just a comment on the high silicon reading in my analysis results. My Ligh
tning was factory built. My normal fuel drainer wasn't long enough to drai
n the Gascolater on the lightning so I made one with a longer rod and used
a plastic freezer bag to catch the fuel. When I held the bag up to the sun
it "glittered" with small bits (microscopic) of what I suspected to be fib
er glass. Shortly before the last oil change I removed the factory install
ed fuel filters from each tank and installed new FRAM G-1 filters (These ha
ve paper filter elements). I cut the Factory units (white plastic tubular f
ilters) open and found they are not truly filters as they have a fine scree
n element which can pass the very small fiberglass particles. I beleive th
at was what I was finding in the Gascolater. The particles are apparently
small enough to get through the carb. jets but they are showing up as Silic
on in the oil analysis. We will see what the silicon readings are after th
e next oil change. Gary N335AL

Hi Linda,
Good to hear from you. I hope all is well. No problem on the analysis. I
've got a couple to compare against.
IRT AV: No I'll be hanging here in FL this year. Although I wish I could.
Just too much to do right now and I'm recovering from surgery too. We've
had alot of rain here and hot and humid days so it's either early morning
or just around sun set to get any flying in.
Will you be taking the Lightning out there?
Have a safe trip either way....and keep in touch!

It was certianly cool to see.
