From: "selwyn" Interesting development. Does the enlarged tailplane have any effect on the stick free longitudinal stability at cruise speeds? -------- Cheers, Selwyn Kit 66 VH-ELZ Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=385340#385340 ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 07:39:04 PM PST US Subject: Lightning-List: Re: Flying the new larger stab. From: "selwyn" Ah, forget that, I just found the description a few threads down. I'll post some more in that. -------- Cheers, Selwyn Kit 66 VH-ELZ Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=385342#385342 ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 08:03:30 PM PST US Subject: Lightning-List: Re: Thoughts and reasons for the Evoution of a Design. From: "selwyn" Hi Nick, A couple of queries on this. Some Lightnings tend to run out of nose up trim on approach with flap. Working from the descriptions in your article suggests that the trim forces will be reduced and less trim tab power required. Is that the case in practice? If I read you correctly, you talk about "significantly less elevator throw for the same stick movement" which implies that you are changing the gearing in the elevator circuit. What changes are made here? Finally, do you consider this mod would have similar effects on the short wing aeroplane? I do a lot of long cross countries in mine and, while lovely to fly, a little more trim stability would be nice on those 500 mile legs without an autopilot. -------- Cheers, Selwyn Kit 66 VH-ELZ Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=385343#385343 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Matronics Email List Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post A New Message lightning-list@matronics.com UN/SUBSCRIBE http://www.matronics.com/subscription List FAQ http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/Lightning-List.htm Web Forum Interface To Lists http://forums.matronics.com Matronics List Wiki http://wiki.matronics.com Full Archive Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search 7-Day List Browse http://www.matronics.com/browse/lightning-list Browse Digests http://www.matronics.com/digest/lightning-list Browse Other Lists http://www.matronics.com/browse Live Online Chat! http://www.matronics.com/chat Archive Downloading http://www.matronics.com/archives Photo Share http://www.matronics.com/photoshare Other Email Lists http://www.matronics.com/emaillists Contributions http://www.matronics.com/contribution ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These Email List Services are sponsored solely by Matronics and through the generous Contributions of its members.
