Thanks to all who responded.
My EAB jet empty weight is 895 which was strangely high because my friend with
a factory LS-1 has empty wt of 840 and has considerably more equipment (avionics
and autopilot) than mine. This 895 number is the same as original wt of plane
when equipped with a BRS chute.
I weighed with zero fuel on fancy electronic racing scales. Nick- this after chute
removed. My new LSA wing tips are heavier and we put on the steps, B&B interior
(lighter than what was in place) plus grnd adjust prop, but I have minimum
avionics, and wide track gear.
I'm happy to see others are in the same ballpark.

My factory built lightning when checked at Gregg Hobbs place weighed slight
ly more than 900 Lbs. dry empty weight. That was with the MK 2 tail feathe
rs and fairings. I would give you an exact weight but the data is at the h
anger and some distance away from my home.

I am doing a survey and would like to know what others have as empty weight
for their Lightnings. I would like to have actual 'as weighed' numbers as
opposed to what the factory has put out. Please check your weight and balan
ce=0A
papers and respond to this forum. My plane=2C that is very sparsely equipp
ed=2C comes in at 40 lbs heavier than the factory advertisements. Either my
scales (electronic) are way off or ???? Thanks to all.George Andre=0A
