| Subject: | Discontinued repair service for certain Garmin products |
To all,
I received a Service Letter from Garmin stating that they will discontinue
repair service on certain models of their equipment. Please see below for t
he affected equipment. I still know people that have 296 and 396 series GPS
units so I thought our Lightning population may want to know this informat
ion.
Effective immediately, repair services and database updates for the Flybudd
y GPS and Model 2001GPS are no longer available.
Effective October 1, 2014, repairs will be discontinued for the following p
roducts:
* GPSMAP 296 Portable
* GPSMAP 396 Portable
Effective December 31, 2014, repairs will be discontinued for the following
products:
* GX50/55 GPS and GX60/65 GPS/Comm
* Model 2101 DZUS Series (includes Model 2002, 2102 Keypads and 2022 Sensor
)

Hi all,
Attached is a flyer for our Annual Homecoming and Open House. Just in case
you can't open the flyer the most important piece of information is the dat
e! Mark your calendars for the first Sat in October (the 4th).
As usual we'll have a Friday evening cookout for the early arrivals. We'll
fly out to Winchester, TN for breakfast on Saturday and then have our Light
ning 100 air race for bragging rights. During all of this you can meet fell
ow owners, builders and dreamers. For people thinking about a Lightning it'
s a great time to get a demo flight, see the factory and meet fellow owners
, all in a laid back atmosphere. You can even get a demo flight in the new
Lightning XS!
We've always had a wonderful time at these events so please make plans to c
ome out and join the fun!

| Subject: | New Garmin G3x Touch |
Does anyone have the new Garmin G3X touch system in their Lightning? I'm looking
at replacing my MGL with the Garmin system. I'd be putting in one 10" panel,
one 7" panel, and autopilot, any thoughts?
