Gerd, Sounds like you are having fun with your fuel tanks.I know you'll get it fi gured out. thanks for the update. I had a problem with one of my master cylinders. We had to re-build the cy linder (matco offers a re-build kit for about $6.00) I had them all replace d. Quite unnerving when rolling out and you have no brakes. Fortunately, it was on the pilot side only and I just happened to have Dennis Wilt with me in the pax seat and that side had braking. Another hangar flying story! The wx sounds terrible; but we are having cold and freezing wx here in the states, even in Florida. Hope you and Uli and family are doing well. So far I couldn`t get my tank drains tight for sh&t!! Dry: dripping... A little eng oil for lubrication: dripping. BTW I didn`dare to torque more than 15ftlbs. Teflon band: Teflon being squeezed out of the threads when tightened, dripping. Used some German gunk made for oil pans : left tank: now tight, right tank : dripping, gunk being washed out in flakes. I was just about to try the teflon band again, when I read the warning. A lengthy search gave me no local shop where I could buy the mentioned Loctite 567. Only one Indian store at eBay`s promised delivery at sometime from March 20th to end of April... for 30$ per 50ccm, about 1.5 oz . Well, the Teflon is (chemically) not the problem, if Teflon wasn`t fuel resistant, my Goodridge 600 Teflon / braided steel fuel lines would have given me a hint. Its the band structure that makes it being cut apart to tatters. I remembered that I some time ago had used Teflon cord for water fittings , and had liked it. I looked around and found Loctite 55 - see pic- at the Female Warrior online store. You can see that the stuff seems to be a little fibrous, so, to avoid fibers getting into the system, I plan to twist the cord and also to let the first two rounds uncovered. Then just one cord following the thread, thats it. So there should be no trouble there, and I hope it works. I need to get some fuel out of the tank before I give it a go, I hate to have more than, say, 1-2 usg in buckets in the hangar, so I have to go and fly a little. Which was impossible so far this year with ceilings of 1000ft- for weeks and then a 10=C2=B0F Force 5 wind from NE ( = Siberia! ) for the last week. Friday they promise us freezing rain, then hopefully spring willl come to icy Hessen. Then I will see. And keep you all informed. If some of you know another way/ means to get the drains tight please let me know. Best regards from Germany Gerd D-EGFL, Kit 162, 55hrs, 75ldgs and still counting
