Rick, I don't know to make a drive adapter. But I can ask around. You might be able to find a 24 volt alternator and make a drive adapter for it. It you wanted to go to 12 volts there are a number of small tractor dynamos (permanent magnet alternators) available from John Deere and others. Again, a drive adapter would be required but once done you'd have a ready source of replacement parts without the high ticket price. You'll have to find an old time mechanic or instructions on the web. I'd try that first if it is indeed a generator. As I recall you short between Field and positive battery terminal, but it's been years since I had to do this on a VW generator.Well, it turns out my memory is pretty good.
