Subject: carb or fuel injection?

What are the pros/cons of a carbureated engine? I am new to aviation but work
in automotive R&D. Our resident PhD scratched his head and couldn't answer why
every single-engine GA aircraft didn't have fuel injection and turbocharging.
Reading AOPA's "Flight Training" most recent issue, it talked about potential
icing taking place INSIDE a carburator (yikes!) but considerably less likely
with fuel injection. Checking the Lycoming 360 series website and brochure,
both of these features are listed as options and don't seem heavily promoted.
Can anyone educate this newbie?
