Subject: | Lycoming part translation |
Does anyone have (does it even exist) a translation chart for Lycoming part numbers?
I would like to be able to order some parts that should be standard (like
bolts) through some of my regular suppliers (GAH, ACS, Wicks, etc.).
As I recently experienced (thanks for everyone's help!), trying to get standard
replacement hardware for my engine is not easy.
For example, a 1/4-20x1-1/2 coarse thread bolt that was previously known to the
Lycoming folks as STD-1414 is now known as LW25-1.50. You can order this directly
from ACS as STD-1414. That covers a few items that ACS has in their inventory
- but leaves quite a few as unfindable. There should also be a standard
specification and AN/MS/NAS designation for them as even Lycoming needs a spec
list.
Or, do 'they' want us to go to folks like BPE or AeroSportPower to get these?
The added corrolary is "Do these folks only get them direct from Lycoming or Superior?".
Thanks,
Ralph Capen
