Subject: | Failure mode of a vernatherm? |
What is the failure mode of a vernatherm? Do they just completely fail or start
to "go bad". I pulled mine out and boiled it and it seems to expand 0.16 inches.
Is it possible that it just gets weak and doesn't completely seal so not
all oil is going through the cooler? I'm trying to decide if it is worth it
to try to replace it. I'm getting hotter oil than usual and I've checked everything
else anyone has suggested (oil flow, blocked cooler, timing, blowby, etc.).
Everything has been fine for 440 hours, so something has clearly changed.
Thanks!
