    Subject: Separating IO-540 Standard flange Crankcase
    I have IO-540-C4B5 engine that needs to be split and rebuilt for my RV-10 build project. I plan on machining new ST-122 pressure plates and 8 bolts/nuts to separate the engine case since Lycoming does not provide this tool anymore. Does anybody have the dimensions of the Lycoming pressure plates ST-122 and the size of the bolts/nuts used to separate Lycoming crankcases. I understand the ST-122-2 bolts thread onto the crankcase Thru-Studs, plates installed both sides of the case with nuts & washers added to the ST-122-2 bolts to secure the plates. When the nuts are tightened down it causes the pressure plates push against the other Thru-Studs that are up against the inside of the pressure plates, causing the case halves to separate. Specifically, what is O/D of the ST-122-2 bolts, the inside depth the bolts are threaded to accept the Thru-Studs? Also, what size thread is on the outside of the bolts and nuts? Any information regarding the ST-122 tool will be gratefully appreciated. Mark Ft. Worth, Tx
