Peter, Doug Sapp here. One thing to remember about freight classes. While it's true the lower the rate the lower the cost, be aware that the lower the class the lower the liability the truck co has. The ate for scrap engine parts will most likely be below 80, but they will pay you for damage based on scrap engine parts. So while it might be nice to get away cheap, if something happens, you'll have to take it on the chin. My advice is to step up and pay the correct rate, AND make sure you show the* stated value.* Without "stated value" you will be in a pissing contest with the truckers insurance carriers over the value. And trust me, stuff happens, my last M14 came in laying on its side!!! One last caution: Make sure you get a certified scale weight from the carrier who picks up the crate. I neglected to do this and now I have the delivering carrier saying that a Housai engine in the crate weighs over 1000 pounds, and they want to bill me for the difference of the 600 lbs which the first carrier said it weighed. Another pissing match! Good luck, On Thu, Mar 6, 2008 at 7:37 PM, Peter Cattoni <cattoni@glastar.ca> wrote: > > Hi Milt, > Thank you for your mails.
