Not a problem if it had avgas in it. ----- Original Message ----- From: "peteairways" Sent: Sunday, January 25, 2009 3:43 PM Subject: M14PEngines-List: M-14P Not Flown in Three Years > > > I recently put a deposit on a Yak-55M that has not flown in about 3-years. > A condition inspection was just done on the aircraft. The only other issues may be high oil consumption due to corrosion in the cylinders. The more important issues are the hoses and things like that. George Coy Coy Aircraft Sales 714 Airport Rd. My question is this: Do I need to worry about any of the parts in the fuel system not working properly from sitting idle for 3-years?(ie auto-mixture, aneroids, valves in the fuel tanks etc.) Any advice on what I should look out for on the little used M-14 would be appreciated! Especially little bugs that build nests in tiny little openings, which happened to me when my 50 sat for just one week at Kissimmee Florida. Other than that, other folks covered all the really important stuff, like hoses and varnish. Some 55's also did not come with a stock air system. Some had them added, modified, etc. etc. That said, you should consider pulling your air tank, and have it inspected for internal corrosion and then have it pressure checked. Make several taxi checks and make sure your brakes are freaking perfect. A brake issue in a tail dragger is bad juju, especially a high performance version. Good luck... Great airplane.
