Peter, I used a used header tank from an offshore racing boat.- I bought
it on ebay.- Remember, the oil tank on your Moose does not need to provid
e oil while inverted.

Hi all,
I building a Murphy Moose together with a friend of mine. We just hang
the engine to the firewall M14PF . We got an oil tank , from a- Sukoi I
believe. But he realized soon, that this one will not fit behind our
engine mount. So I guess we have to get one made up for us.
It would be very helpful, if we could get some ideas, dos and don'ts
,especially of the oil tank installation and generally ,of all- firewall
forward installations .---Some pictures would be helpful, and we are
grateful for any advice we can get .
All help is appreciated .
TIA

Given the fact that it doesn't need to be an oil tank with inverted
capability, I wonder if the oil tank used on a CJ would work? It's a
bit narrower than the round tank used on the 50 or 52 and sort of an egg
shape with the smaller end of the "egg" at the bottom of the tank.
Check with Doug Sapp for dimensions.

Peter, look at this web site.- It gives you the idea of tanks that can be
used.- Lightweight tanks for racing.- Some are dry sump tanks, some ar
e overflow H2O tanks.-

I have sent you a pic of my oil tank, just remember that I mounted my tank a little
high, so I could have better access to the dipstick when the cowl goes on,
the top brackets should have been bolted in the horizontal channel, so I had
to make doublers for all the brackets. If you need any more pics let me know.

Hi Henry,
That is great stuff, thank you a lot !
Would you have the dimensions of the tank handy ? Did you have it made
for you ? You do not have the specifications for it .
I hope I do not ask to many questions. But it would be really helpful ,
if we had a few more details, so that I can go to our welder, and have
one made up for us.
Yes I agree, the attachment flanges would go nicely on the re
enforcement brackets on the fire wall.
For now, thank you so much,
Peter
