I use 3 sec of prime and 1/2" of throttle.

If you are using this solenoid http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/elsolprimer.php

double check it was installed in the correct orientation. #2 orifice is in # 1
orifice is out.

If backwords the boost pump will blow the plunger open and flood the engine.

You might also consider installing a check valve between the solenoid and manifold
as depending on where the solenoid is in your fuel system there is a chance
it will get "sucked" open at high power/fuel flow.
