I finally flew my Pelican after too many years building. It flies great and
everything went well. I think the nosewheel shimmy is a bad tire. I
balanced it but it has a hop and wobble when spun fast. I tried re-seating
the bead but it didn't work. I'll just get a new tire. The Stratus subaru
is smooth and has plenty of power. No solid performance data yet but I'll
get better numbers soon. Very fun airplane to fly. I'm sure it'll take a
little while to master but I had no problems on my first flight and I'm
looking forward to many more flights and also to traveling around quite a
bit. I hope that one of my first trips will be up north and maybe I can
visit some other Pelican builders.
