group---the guy who owned this for years, Chris Egsgaard, drove the
Batmobile in the television series. Met him at Brodhead years ago. He
recently passed away. Just passing this along, I have NO other
information or connection with this auction.

During my inspection , my DAR recommended a fix for drippy gaskets. Think he said
something about silicon rubber gaskets. Not cheap but would fix the problem.
Anyone know what they are, and where to get them?

They are red silicone rubber. Many places advertise them. One brand is
called "real gaskets"

I put one on my Taylorcraft. I just bought it from my A&P/IA. I am
surprised that yours doesn't have them in stock.

No comment on drippy valve covers, but we're freezing hindparts here in NE
Ohio. Even though we haven't had any heavy snow in a while, it seems to
snow a little bit just about every day - never saw so much gray weather! A
good time to stay in the basement & work on a project.
Sure seems a long time since the TaylorCraft Flyin, doesn't it Dave?
Do Not Archive.
Cheers (a chilly one at that!),

Kip,
Serves you right. As I once told you "you're the only one I've ever known who
retired and moved nawth".
Believe it or not my T/P Edwin Johnson met me at Lucien Field Tues after work
5:30 PM, about 45 to 50 degrees and actually test flew 41CC after a prop
change. He is an all weather, all season pilot flying an all weather, all
season (in La) plane.

Walt,
Retsof is about 30 miles south of Rochester. Roch is on Lake Ontario,
about 2/3
of the way across. It is 5 miles from Geneseo, site of the 1941 Historical
Air Group
and where the Flying Aces have their national model meet. At one time Retsof
was the site of the largest salt mine in the western hemisphere. It is now
the site
of the largest salt water holding tank in the western hemisphere. Someone
had a
great idea about how mines should be cut. They didn't listen to the guys
that had
been cutting mines for a living.
It is about 12F now at 19:00 EST. It is supposed to cool down next week so I
guess we can turn off the air conditioner.
The Taylorcraft is kept at Perry-Warsaw - 01G. They get snow for real. We can
get an inch and they get a foot from Lake Erie lake effect.
Keep warm.
