Don't forget Antoine de Saint-Exupery's other two
books, Night Flight and Flight To Arras.
The philosopher waxes poetic.
And then there's Song Of The Sky by Guy Murchie.
All good reads. Clif

I am requesting your help in figuring out what color to paint my tailwheel
dolly/pull cart. Friend Earl Myers built this
thing and then sold all his planes and gave me this item for the
Piet. It's basically a two-wheeled (spoked garden cart type wheels)
steel tube affair that latches onto your tailwheel/tailspring and has a
t-handle on the other end so you can pull/push your plane around. It's
ready to go but it's red to match his old Scout. My dominant colors are
navy and white, with a bit of orange trim........SO I'm scratching my head
trying to figure out what color spray paint to pickup at Wal Mart to give
this thing an Earl Sheib paint job. Any ideas ? Pilots are notorious for
generating some of the most revolting paint schemes in all the world, so
any help from you guys who have a good eye for this kind of thing would be
appreciated.
Thank You and (do not archive)

Since the cart may be used for more planes than just yours, you need to
find a neutral color that works with all other colors.
Basic black works. So does white.
How about that disgusting "Powermatic yellow/green"? It would look
equally revolting against ANY airplane color?
Greg Cardinal in Minneapolis
P.S. What's up with Earl Meyers? He used to be very active on this list
when it was run by Steve E.

Greg !
You could use this cart on more planes than mine, but you'd have to make a
special 'shoe' for each to
attach it to the tailwheel or spring. This one will be dedicated to the
Piet only. Custom fit kinda thing.
The neutral color suggestions is a good idea too. Thanks !

Earl Myers, who was a very dedicated Pietenpol supporter and Scout builder,
got out of aviation completely
a few years ago for many reasons......and is now into G-scale model
railroading and garden railroading very heavily.
He used to own a AN hardware business in the 80's. Great guy.

I'm kinda partial to basic trainer yellow. Allows good visibility on the
ground for any aircraft that my be in close proximity and when it's in the
hanger with all the other stuff that seems to accumulate over time.

Mike,
I would leave it red, is a safety color that is easy to see when left
around, most of our big tools in the hangar are painted red (included
the bicycle to move around the aerodrome).
Just my idea.

HI Mikee,
Frankly I'd make it day-glo orange so you could find the durned thing and
also notice if you left it attached to your tailwheel.

painted a ( to-find-it-color) you will not find it.

Well, if you're worried about losing it,
zap strap a pager to it. Just don't forget
the number!
Paint it blue with a 3" wide white band
6" down from the handle. Then paint
1/4" red bands at each end of the white.
