That's what Nathan Moss did. He was off the ground in less than 50 ft. Maybe 40. The first thing which came to his mind while climbing out in that clear air turbulance was' How in Hell am I gonna get this beast down again. While trying to answer that question he flew around about 50 minutes in the roughest air he has experience since flying school. He got back OK but only rolled about 15 ft after touchdown. Right now he's worn out laying on his ass trying to muster enough strength to get a bourbon and branch water. Ain't life grand? Both use the same 8409 crank, the same connecting rods and have the same bore and stroke. It's my understanding that the difference in horsepower comes from the cam and carbs and both of these are replaced during the conversion. There may be some minor variations in the combustion chamber design but nothing to alter the final horsepower output. I don't see where relieving the case is an issue. Are you confusing the 95 hp engine with the 80/102/150 hp engines, or did I miss something? A1964 95 HP engine had head number3839886, 3839887, 3886255 or, 3856626. The 1965-66 used 3856743,3883862, 3886259. The 1968-69 3878569. There is no reference to a 1967 95 HP engine in my reference source http://www.angelfire.com/ca4/CorvAIRCRAFT/HeadNumbers.html ----- Original Message ----- From: "Franck" Subject: Pietenpol-List: 95 HP Corvair engines (Was: Corvair Engines) > --> Pietenpol-List message posted by: Franck > > Oscar, Correct me if I'm wrong but from what I have gleaned from the > corvair list and reading William's manual, there should virtually be no > difference between the 95 block and the 110 block. There are quite a few of us that are looking forward to flying with him. I for one would be VERY dissapointed if he stopped flying for some reason before several of us got to fly our Piets around a nice calm evening sky with him! Yes, life IS grand. Here's hoping all a happy holiday filled with family, friends and love. Jim in Plano.....finally done with beadblasting and powdercoating for a while....... ----- Original Message ----- From: Subject: Pietenpol-List: Ain't life grand > --> Pietenpol-List message posted by: Isablcorky@aol.com > > What would you do if you were sitting by the tube early Sunday afternoon, > clear skies, moderate S wind 15 to 25, 66 deg with a new leather jacket thinking > about your Piet down in the hangar chomping at the bits. > That's what Nathan Moss did.
