Wooden boat builders too. Ask around. Someone's probably
building light kayaks and canoes.

you could check local cabinet suppliers, or cabinet shops to see if baltic birch
is available. it comes in 5 x 5 sheets from russia that comes in mm thicknesses,
the thinnest being about 3/16 inch thick. very strong

Do I absolutely need "aircraft grade plywood"? (I'm assuming no). I have
1/4" mahogany available up here to me in the bush (Alaska). Can this be used
instead? (Yes, I realize the added weight vs. thinner side walls and seats).
Sure a lot cheaper though! Also, for the gussets I will be getting that from
Aircraft Spruce & Speacialty (I have no choice),

Subject: | Annual SAA Fly-in |
Pieters,
This is the week end for the annual SAA Fly-in being held at Urbana, Ill.
This SAA organization was formed several years ago by Mr Paul Poberenyy sp on the
same foundation piers that he formed EAA . I feel he wants to get back to
homebuilder basics with this group. EAA seems to have grown beyond it's original
intentions which I'm sure is ok with it's many members. There has not been an
advertized solicitation for membership in SAA.
I had made plans to attend this fly in with my Piet 41CC. Had hotel
reservations, made plans to overnite with Isabelle's relatives in Mattoon after
a first
night stop in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Had a new Olympus digital camera, some clean
clothes, a tooth brush and plenty of money plus Isabelle's blessing and a good
flying Piet. Who could ask for more?
What happened?????????????
I think, maybe I'm wrong, but I think some idiots at FAA, OMB, AOPA, EAA,
AARP, NAACP and other northern beaurocratic cells just didn't want a yankee
invasion. Seems everytime I plan something of this nature there are a bunch of
impediments. AM I feeling sorry for myself? You guessed it correctly.
No Sport Pilot in June 2004. I began building in May 2000 with the almost
sure bet it would be in force by Oshkosh 2001. All these so called support
organizations tell me to be patient, it is just over the horizon. Hell, I'm 81
yrs
old and well aware of what's over the horizon and it's not the passage of Sport
Pilot.
On a positive note. It really isn't fair to blame all those do nothing
organizations for my not getting to Urbana. The way the weather patterned I honestly
don't think I could have gotten to and certainly not beyond Arkansas. I do
hope that Paul and the others have a successful fly in and the weather fairs for
them.
Corky, still in Louisiana
