Subject: | weber carb question |
Hello,
Got my model A running on a test stand but have a strange behavior.
I have a weber auto carb on it and two mags run to a normal AC switch on the control
panel.
It starts and runs beautifully, but then it'll just up and quit. Doesn't matter
what the throttle setting is, or how long it's run. The most it ran was four
minutes or so, but the more I ran it, the shorter the durations seems to be
between quits.
When it quits it just quits, sounds like someone cut the switch, no sputtering,
then it'll start up again nicely so I think the ignition is fine.
I'm going to try spraying some fuel in the carb as it quits which will tell me
if it is the carb, but does anyone have any thoughts?

"could anyone with the Price 3 piece wing, gapless aileron, front
cockpit door on a flying Piet please comment on......." Jake, I bought
all of the Price drawings and have built his fiberglass tank, gapless
piano hinge aileron, and front cockpit door, but am still building not
flying so I cant comment. I didn't build her..(him at the time) 3 piece
wing because the Western Ac sup. wood kit I bought was set up for the Vi
Kapler 3 piece wing so I went that route. I went for the simpler leaf
spring tail wheel because it was easy and fast. The main reason I did
the cockpit door was because I was building in my basement at the time.
I could only build things up to a size that I could get up the stairs
and around a corner. I could flex the fus. sides around the corner so I
built them, but could nerver get a built fuselage out so building
stalled. During a stalled construction period I added the door to the
right side mostly for something to do. Afterward I regretted adding the
weight because I am going to use the Ford A. At 40hp there probably
never, or rarely have anyone in the front pit, so that convenience was
wasted. Since then I have decided to re do my engine--insert bearings,
Model B cam etc. for more HP. I may then have the power to haul
passengers after all, and the door will be real handy. Stay tuned. Leon
Stefan 7 years into a 2 year project.

Maybe it's not your carb. Is your tank vented? Is it at least 9 inches above
the float bowl?
