Well Chris...You didn't tell us all those reasons from the get go..Your Dad
sounds like a really neat guy..Wish mine was like that...And involveing him
is a great reason to build at his place..Not too many of us are lucky enough
to have have a shop big enough to build the one piece wing...Even though I
agree it's the best way to go ...My shop is only 28 X 24 and It wouldn't fit
in my house either or I would have built a one piece...If you build the
three piece you could get a light weight trailer and haul the wing panels up
to your Dad's once in a while, Weather permitting of course.. they're only
13 1/2 feet long and that way he could be involved, probably be a big help
and get some use out of all those new tools. I bet he would enjoy that.. but
having to drive 120 miles round trip each time you want to work on your one
piece wing sounds like a deterant to me..Good luck which ever way you decide

Hi Chuck: I am planning to go to Ch.88. I need to get some shut-eye
first, which will ruin the whole day. I'll be there around 2pm...after
most of the action is over. Or I may just stay home and haul another

Don't get discouraged too soon. I know a man who built a Piet in a second
story apartment. The wing was straight, alright, but in two pieces (no

Chris,
In light of this new info, I change my opinion, and think you should
DEFINITELY build the 3 piece wing, 60 miles away at your Dad's place. I know his
type, and I Guarantee you he will become enthusiastically involved. I also
Guarantee you he will enjoy flying the ol' Pietenpol more than anything he has
ever
flown. You could easily build many of the sub assemblies at home, and use his
place for final assembly. Building a Pietenpol is a Perfect Father / Son
project...especially if he has the tools and does a lot of the work...just ask
Mad Dawg Davis, or Sterling Brooks !!
