All kinds of good stuff awaits you. Also, you may have a collision or two in all that smoke and TP. Before doing ANYTHING in aviation, especially something different, imagine how the feds can use it to further control your hobby and enhance their beauro and pockets. Who's planning on flying their Pietenpol to Broadhead next year. God willing I should have my Piet ready to go and would like to make the trip. This would be a first time for me and I would rather fly there with a wingman(s) John Pittsburgh Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=73963#73963

Well, it's my dream to fly 41CC to Brodhead (via Shreveport, LA) and if I don't have a goal or a dream to do so, it will never happen. So I'll say yes, I'm planning to fly to Brodhead in '07. Turns out that Paul Poberezny dissolved the SAA this past week, so there won't be another fly-in to Urbana, Illinois... the only other one that I'd have liked to have made. I don't think a NORDO, low/slow airplane like the Piet would be too welcome at OSH so that's out of the question. Plus, people might wonder about the integrity of an airplane that can be built for less than the cost of a new sedan and maintained by someone without a uniform and an FAA license of some sort. My wife still goes white as a sheet when I tell her that I should never need a radio to talk to anybody when I fly the Piet most places I want to take it. Most people assume that people flying airplanes have to be under Air Traffic Control or else! I sure this question was asked recently, but I was too dumb to pay attention. I am planning to attend Brodhead 2007. Where can I stay nearby? Jim, I am still interested in those Model A engines. Are you still out there? Ron

Hi Prople who hope to fly to Brodhead in 07, I read the Piet list every day but don't usually contribute unless I have something of value to pass on. On Oct. 1, I bought a Pietenpol from Rch Hill, in Baxter, Ia. The plane was built mostly by his Mom and Dad, Dorothy and Ray Hill, who happens to be widely known for his knowledge and skills in building airplanes. This Piet is very quality. Originally powered by a Corvair but now sports an A-65. It has a welded steel tube fuselage and tail. The wing is wood. It also has a door for the front cockpit, metal bucket seats with professionally upholstered cushions. I'm very fortunate to have Bill Rewey as my close friend. Since I don't have a tail wheel endorsement yet, he helped me fly it back to Madison, Wi. Bill is very widely known and respected amongst the Piuetenpol community, has built two Air Campers, and helped build a Scout. He has more than 500 hrs. flying his current Piet which he completed about 16 yrs. ago and has had it at Brodhead every yr. and several yrs. at Oshkosh including the last two yrs. in the LSA area. What I'm getting at is if you have any questions about long cross country flying in a Piet, he's flown his from Madison,Wi. to Sun N Fun 4 times. And yes he can trim the plane to fly hands off long enough to unfold and study Sectionals, do navigation, change channels on his radio and take photos. I'm sure he'd be happy talk to you or you could write him if you have any concerns about flying to Brodhead. Unfortunately, I haven't convinced him yet, to unpack the computor he has, still in the box it came in so you'd have to use the old fashion media, snail mail or telephone. But, by all means do fulfill that dream and make the trip. Last yr. was pretty weathered out and there were only 8 Piets there but in 2004 I counted 23. (or was that 2005) Anyway you can be sure of seing Bill's and my Piets there in 07, but then were only 38 mi. north of Brodhead. By the way I'm building a Piet in my basement and a Corvair engine in my garage. Here's Bill's address: Bill Rewey 3339 Mound View Rd.
