I'm not sure if the passenger is covered under that. You may want to
check with an insurance company. In my case I will never be carrying a
passenger so it's not an issue.

Harvey, I knew it was something like that, I had the last 3 figured

I've got $1,000,000 liability and $15,000 ground hull. I think my
premium is about $600 a year through Falcon (EAA). I also insure my
RV-4 with them. I do carry hull on it (beacause I have it financed) and
the $1,000,000 liability and full hull for $50,000 costs me about $1300
a year. The nice thing about Falcon's policy is that I'm covered up to
the value of my policy on ANY airplane I fly, so I can fly other folks
airplanes and still have insurance, up to $50,000 if I break something.

Do you have a deductable amount? That's always a nice surprise whenever
you have to claim."Oh where sorry you have a 5000 dollar deductable on

Just looked at my policy to be sure. Premium for the RV-4 is $1350 for
$50,000 hull (ground and in-motion), $1,000,000 liability. Zero
      deductible.

      Bob,

When I was there last year, there was quite a variety of aircraft
present. Five Pietenpols, a couple of Tiger Moths, and a bunch of other
planes, including a few regular ol' Cessnas. There's no snobbery.
The field is a grass strip. Details can be found here:

      http://www.copanational.org/PlacesToFly/airport_view.php?pr_id=1&ap_id=
      8
      90

on that page, you'll find Jim's phone number. Probably best to give him
      a call for details.

      Bill

Robert: I don't think Brussels is in the CFS but we saw all manner of
airplane last summer (including Witchita and Lock Haven tin!!) I'm sure you
would find the field quite suitable for your Cherokee. There are two strips
so into wind won't be an issue. Mr. Armstrong keeps the runways in very
good shape and we've had a dry spring.

Bill and I will look forward to seeing you there! I'll be the tall bald guy

Visit to the USASteve, if you can somehow make it up to Brodhead, there
are at least two or three Piets there and a Scout there.
Also, There are at least 4 more Piets just a 45 minute drive north.
Bill Rewey, a great source of Piet knowledge, has his Piet at a small
airport south of Madison, Wi., and in that same hangar, there are two
more Piets. Mine is a couple miles further north at the Middleton,
      airport.
If you have the time and I knew when you'd be up here I could meet and
guide you, and I'm sure Bill would love to talk with you.

That is a very kind offer of you, Jack. I discovered that EAA has a
CDP number you can give to Hertz or Enterprise and the cost
per week drops by $100 bucks when you use that number. Most likely will
have my own car but just checking to see who has been
there, done that. Thank you !

      Hey Roman,

Are you going to have your Piet at Brodhead this year? I'll be there,
      but in an RV-4 (I know, I know...a "spam can"). I don't have enough
vacation time this year to fly the Pietenpol there from North Carolina.
Let's see, Brodhead is 4 hours and 10 minutes flying time in an RV-4, or
17 - 1/2 hours (two days flying) by Pietenpol. Go figure.

Steve, if you can somehow make it up to Brodhead, there are at least two
or three Piets there and a Scout there.

      Visit to the USAGee!
Let's see. 38mi. due south of the Middleton airport.
      Yeah! I'll have mine there.
Nothing short of a fatal heart attack or violent weather will keep me
      away.
Needless to say, Bill will be there too. We'll likely fly down
      together.

RV-4's are nice airplanes. They provide a nice comparison between
      extremes in homebuilts.

BTW I wouldn't classify an RV-4 as a "Spam Can".
Spam cans are planes that are cranked out in assembly lines in big
buildings and they all are alike.
An RV built by hand with a lot of tender loving care is more of a one of
a kind, piece of metal art work.
Stand proudly along side your RV.

Ya I'd agree with that .Since I'm not a builder myself I always think
those guys or gals that can do this sort of thing are real crafts people
and I am just amazed by these people and their talent.Whenever I build
anything it just never quite comes out right and even the people that
work with me at the airfield get very frustrated with me from time to
time.I wish I had your talent to build anything. If I was to start an RV
it wouldn't come out right at all.I'd have to kill something by the
      third day!

Visit to the USAYea. I agree. It takes a lot of skill to build any
airplane and metal work isn't as easy as some people make it look. I knew a
guy working in the sheet metal shop at Field in Toronto. A Beech 18 bent up
an engine cowl and Arthur rolled out a new one on the English wheel in no
time that fit perfectly. Made it look easy.

      Hey Mike

When the Big Piet Builders drive from Carrollton, it only takes us 16
hours and we have to get on I-75 at Cartersville just to get started. Of
course it helps to have 5 other drivers to swap out with and 2 radar
      detectors.

Have we met? We have been up every year for the past 5 years. Are you
      building?

We are having a fly-in in Carrollton this Sept. 15th.
