Subject: | Corvair running grrrrrrreat! |
Hello group, 20 +hrs and counting on the new rebuilt corvair. I have flown over
20hrs in the last 30 days, thats insane!! I just keep putting gas in and pushing
the throttle in and going up. Took my wife up as the first crash test
dummy, (after using dead weight of course), and she flies good. We flew 20 miles
to a pankake breakfast last sat am when it was 44 degrees F, and had fun.
Only problem was my frozzen fore head, she never complained. I also took a
6ft 4in fellow I work with flying last weekend and he enjoyed the hell out of
it, except getting in the front hole. We have about 25 hrs on it in the last
month and I must say, It eats Cubs for dinner, on climb and cruise. I am still
coming in a bit hot with 2 pepole aboard to ease the weight on to the mains
(wheel landings) as we need at least 1 more wrap on our bungees to stiffen up
the gear for the increased weight. Dad came up and stold the wheels to put on
some 8.00-6 tires, so she is up on blocks for the
time being, but he should be up tommorow and take Mom up for her 1st open cockpit
ride with dad since she was in her early 20's. I hope I am home to see it.
Hoping to make at least a few more fly ins this fall before the snow starts
flying.
