We top off the coolant, and filled the gas tank with 100 LL. The first take off everything was good untill downwind when the water temp rose to about 200 degrees. On base and final the temp droped to 170 degrees. So after the second take off the temp went to 200 again. So we cut the pattern short and landed, while taxi in I started to get some white smoke from the #4 exhaust pipe. After shut down I was only able to add about one cup of coolent. Pulled the # 4 plug and found some water in the cylinder. What are your thoughts? As to jump in temp and smoke. That radial engine really has some kick. The tail comes up quickly and it is very smooth in flight. A special thanks to all who helped in the building process, especially the crew at Sun n Fun where the components were build, Skip, P.F. and all the others. Is that one of the Rotec radials? I love the external elevator horn. Gives it a great antique look. If you start it up with the radiator cap off you should be able to feel exhaust pulses coming out the radiator.
