They should be on the centerline of the spar, but a 1/4" probably won't
matter much if the compression struts are in line with the drag wire
attach points. The compression struts should prevent any warping from
eccentric loading of the drag/anti-drag wires.

      Hi all,
I'm at about the same stage Jack is, that is assembling my wings. Don't

want to screw this up because it would set me back months. I used the
drawing in the extended fuselage plans for my lift strut attach to the
spars. I drilled the holes per the plans and welded the plate across
the top. Now the hole that the drag/antidrag wire bracket would attach
to is about 1/4 inch below the centerline of the spar. In looking at
the original plans, its not clear if the fitting is centered on the spar

or not. Fortunately if I need to center that hole (the spar isn't
drilled yet) I can cut 1/4 inch off the top of the fitting and reweld
it. Better too long than too short.

So my question is: Do all the drag/antidrag fittings need to be
centered on the spar, ie will it cause some strange warping if they are
off-center a little bit when I tighten them up. Feedback?

      Thanks in advance

      Gene,

When I return with the tank, I'll have all your information you have requested!
The welder needed to add some aluminum spots to prevetnt he straps from slipping
      around while suspending the tank...

                Ken,
I can't answer your question but I have a few for you. What aluminum did you
use and where did you get it and how many gallons will your tank hold? I was
going to use 5052 for my 17 gal tank but it will cost a bundle to ship a 4 X
8 sheet as everyone wants to ship it flat. My local supplier suggested I use
6061, which he has in stock but I don't have any information on how it will hold
up as a fuel tank. I'm contacting my A & P this morning to see what he says.
        Thanks
        Gene

Am now fitting compression struts & drag cables.to wing Using drawings
for the PFA approved mods to wing spar.

Both spars have the same depth 4 3/4 inches, both compression stuts 3/4
square ,the top is flush with the top of the spar & the lower is spaced
up 1/2 inch from the bottom of the spar, suggest don't champfer the the
compression struts in any way to follow lower rib surface, they need to
      be full strength.

When measuring for drag/Anti drag cables, suggest get wing all square &
trammeled, before measuring cables, I found that the turnbuckles some
times need adjusting & it is easy to exceed the max of 3 threads showing
      on the adjustment.
if the cable is a bit short, fitting a shackle to the fitting fixes
      this.

      Cheers Graham from Oz
