Mike,
I'm assuming you are accessing the list via the web forum @ forum.matronics.com.
The problem may be that the person you are trying to PM (private message) is
not posting their messages or accessing the list via the web forum.
For example, I am setup to receive individual messages from the list via my Yahoo
account, and then I filter them into a Piet folder. I do not use the web forum.
Therefore, if you were to try to PM me, I'm pretty sure I would never know.
I believe the only way you could PM me is if I were to setup a username at
the web forum, and then your private message would reach me when I logged in.
That's my guess as to what is going on. If the peson you want to contact is unreachable
via PM, you could always email them directly. Hope that helps,
Ryan

Thanks Ryan,
But my messages stay in the Outbox after I hit "submit". Even if the recipient
address was bogus they should still make it out of there, shouldn't they? I dunno..

Not sure, but I do know that if it comes with an "S" after it, it's no good. At
least I remember that from the days before my wife had her operation to convert
the "family room" to a "play room" ;o)

Good evening everyone,
We need a little advice before we proceed with the rib building. I have been going
back on forth on which method to use when it comes to jig setup. We have our
base built out of two pieces of 3/8 ply glued together. We also have the full
size rib print. I have read numerous posts on how you can't necessarily utilize
that print, due to the expansion/contraction of the paper over time. The
only dimension on the print is the 27 3/4" between the rear of the front spar
and the front of the rear spar. When we measure between those points on the full
size print it does actually come out to be 27 3/4". I also measured the thickness
of the rib at the rear of both spars on the full size print, and both measurements
comes out within 1/16" of the nearest listed dimensions from the plans
(listed as 5 9/16" for the front, 5 9/32" for the rear on the plans). I don't
know what else to check to ensure that the print is good to go. Is there
something I'm missing here, or should we just be
able to glue the full size print down and start building the rest of the jig (instead
of lofting all the dimensions)?
One other issue is the difference between the leading edge of the rib in the plans,
and on the full size print. On the '33 plans it looks like the front member
of the rib that completes the flat nose that the leading edge bolts to is a
1/4 x 1/2" piece, just like all the other rib material. On the full size print
there is a note there that says "1/2 x1/2 inch block". Should we get some 1/2
x 1/2" spruce to make the front member, or will the 1/4 x 1/2" shown on the
plans be sufficient?
Thanks,
Ryan

Hi Ryan,
Do not use any liquid glue to glue the print down, that makes the paper expand.
Just pin it down is best or use a spray glue that really won't wet the paper.
Once the paper is glued down it will not change dimensions so you can use it.
I used the print and just measured it at the start and after the blocks are put
down to hold the pieces of the rib in place they will all come all exactly
the same (within your workmanship anyway).
Cheers, Jim
