    I've a Kitfox for low 'n' slow, L4 Cub for lower 'n' slower, Currie Wot Bi-plane for open cockpit, Cessna 120 for going places and Boeing 737-800 day-job to pay for them all.     NX48MC has the same adornment in the front cockpit as Greg and Dale's Pietenpol-----nothing but plywood and the required FAA passenger warning. To me anything more in the front cockpit of a Pietenol is costly ballast that degrades performance.

    Great poem. I think the key to success on a long project like building an airplane is to surround yourself with motivational messages like these, and motivational people like the good folks at Brodhead.     Not as good as sitting in a plane, but... One of my wife's friends was at the house on Friday with her 14 year old son. He was sitting in the living room watching the fish tank. (TV is in cold storage.) I never met him before so I thought I'd show him the fetal project underway. He had tons of questions and was shocked to learn that home-made airplanes exist. We went out the the little workshop where the stabilizer is set up and he was fascinated. He even commented that he loved the smell of the wood the shed.     I like to read Thomas Edison's quotes when I'm discouraged. My favorites is "I never failed, I simply found 10,000 ways that won't work." I work for LEXUS and all of the strange requests come to me. I tell the service advisors that just because it can't be done, that doesn't mean that I can't do it. I tell the customers that provided time and money, anything is possible. My close friends think I'm going to get killed in the Piet. I tell them that my adrenaline junkie lifestyle is going to leave me in a wheel chair when I'm old. All I will have are stories to tell, and I want some stories to tell. If I should get killed in plane crash or going 80mph on the back wheel in a motorcycle race through the desert, then that sure beats dyeing of cancer.
