Subject: | Brekfast flight with my Bride |
This morning was beutiful for flying the Piet.- Woke up at 8 or so and to
ld my wife we should fly to breakfast, and she said OK.- We flew up to Bu
tler Ohio "Swank Field", which is not on any charts and walked down an old
railroad bed which is now a bike trail for about 1/2 mile and ate at the Wh
iffle Tree Resturant.- The cool thing I missed however, was a group of ho
mebuilts that arived at my home strip as my engine was warming up.- A "Bo
bcat", a Carlson Sparrow, and a Curtiss Robbin replica with a continental o
n it.- At first I thought it was a piet, but as it flew by the end of the
runway I saw it was a Robbin.- If I am ....We are lucky we'll all have w
eather like this on our ways to Brodhead in 3 weeks.- Even with 2 people
on board NX92GB was cruising at a good 70+mph in glassy smooth air.- Let
me know who will be flying up through here on their way to Brodhead, our 1s
t planned stop is Van Wert Ohio at about 9am or so on thursday the 24th.-
That is where I turn the rains over to my "Old Man" and sit my butt in the
truck for a few hours untill his butt gets tired of the plywood seat.- L
et me know if anyone is gonna be in the vicinity of the RT 30 corridor.

Subject: | Bell Crank update |
Fellow Pieter's
-
Here are a few of photos of my bell crank set-up. I like the looks-of Dic
k Navratil outside linkage set-up for the elevator so much that I stole his
idea!! Enjoy the photos and any constructive criticisms-are welcomed!-
Note* -I did clear the front edge of the stabilizer using Dick's design.
Hence the several mock-ups and measure/re-measure before install points fou
nd. I have about 3/4" of an inch from the top of my tail cross brace to the
top of the bell crank.....

The question I do have is..... what type of connection (photos) have most o
f you been using for the bell crank to cable hook-up? I understand the plan
s making mention of-a clevis pin and hook connection....but what have oth
ers used-in this application?- Seems to me an adjustable fork or other
similar connection would be much more desirable for adjustment. Photos welc
ome.-
