I have developed a group of friends at my airport that will give me a prop if I ask them nice :) Seriously, I think I've heard of some type of airboat conversion, I believe I saw it listed on e-bay a few months back It would probably be easier to upgrade to a C-85F Ben Charvet Mims Fl Baby Ace N39D (A-75) Piet NX866BC covering the wings now walt wrote: > Does anyone know of a way to fit a starter on an A-65? > walt evans > NX140DL > > > * > > > *

Walt; I thought the idea given last time was pretty good, to fit a flywheel on the hub. The link I followed was this one: http://www.mtnguy.com/kr2/ I asked my engine guru about this and he says he's seen it done before. Of course, if you have a cert engine before you start, you won't have one when you're done. The Fly Baby site has a "Harry Fenton on Small Continental Engines" section talking about starters: http://www.bowersflybaby.com/tech/fenton.htm#starters According to what he says the A-65-9 is the only A-65 configured for a starter. Parts can be scarce, it can only use heavy non-impulse Bendix mags, and it ends up weighing almost as much as a C-85-12 with lightened accessories (sort of seconds what Ben said). Or you could try to find a McDowell Aero Safety Starter. I think Bill Rewey has one on his Piet....
