Yes, and you should go here. There's a picture of a chart.
Save the pic to your computer then you can enlarge it to
legible size. It might surprise you.

Normally, when flying around my home area, I just call myself "Pietenpol
899 Juliet Papa". However, when I flew into Dulles International last
June for the Udvar-hazy "Be a Pilot Family Day", contacting Potomac
Approach to enter the Washington ADIZ and the Dulles Class B airspace,
I called in "Pietenpol November X-Ray Eight Niner Niner Juliet Papa."
My understanding is you can call yourslef "experimental" or you can use
x-ray in your call sign, but you are supposed to do one or the other. I
have used "Experimental" before, but saying that immediately causes the
question "what type experimental?"

Thanks for the replies. My airplane just underwent its annual
condition inspection and my A&P recommended that I add a small
placard on the panel with the aircraft radio call. That prompted
my question.
Believe it or not=2C the only item on the inspection that has the
airplane grounded right now is the lack of a compass correction
card! I found a number of minor hardware squawks and things
here and there that I'm working on=2C but the compass correction
card is officially required before I can fly again. Love the FAA...

The snow and the gray skies has got me thinking about summer, and our 80th
Anniversary plans.
I am excited to make the trip to Brodhead and sit round the campfire and en
joy the misty mornings in the early light of day.
Like the rest of you I'm face with the challenge of arranging vacation, fam
ily and means to make the trip happen. I have three aims for this trip.
1) Teach my boys (Dallin, age 9, and Crandall, age 11) how to dream big and
work hard. 2) Show them the beauty of America - Low and Slow style. 3) t
each them to give generously.
While I'm working on another round of baseball caps and an anniversary patc
h, My boys and I came up with the idea they can help with. Crandall and D
allin, (with a little help from Dad) present the soon-to-be-famous 'Brodhe

are donating $1 per order sold, to them.
Here is the design. Size is 4x6 in Black and white.
$5 each or 3 for $10

rudder pedals so that doesn't help much. So...My question is=3B How far ba

Not a dumb question at all. My recommendation is to mock up some pieces
for your fuselage and try them out, sitting in the pilot's seat. That's
what I did. Too hard to make recommendations since everyone's airplane
and body are different. One word of advice that I wish I had when I
installed my brake cylinders is to make sure you install them in such a
way that bubbles of air will not have to travel downhill in order to
bleed the brakes. My brakes are a royal bear to bleed.

You could use this style of master cylinder/pedal setup:

I just kinda skip that part. I usually just say what I want to do. I try to throttle
back so they can hear me better, which usually helps the folks on the
ground. But I've yet to have someone in another airplane hear me though. Thinking
about carrying a megaphone with me. Gotta love the no electric thing.

Subject: | Heel brake pedals |
Air Camper NX41CC has toe brakes exactly like the Bill Rewey
detail and like several others have shown. I really like them.
I used to think that I'd like heel brakes better since that's what
I cut my teeth on in my J-3 Cub training days=2C but the rudder bar
on the Piet makes it not so easy to deal with heel brakes. The
"Bill Rewey" toe brake setup is simple=2C effective=2C and it puts the
brake masters where they are quite easy to inspect and service.
My other project=2C the M-19 Flying Squirrel=2C uses Azusa mechanical
drum brakes and even though I have not flown them yet=2C I've heard
(and seen for myself) that the drums are quite thin and easy to get
out of round with heavy brake application. I had mine trued up on
a lathe but even so=2C they are quite lightweight and prone to distortion.
I'd go with Tracy O'Brien modified Azusas (www.TracyObrien.com) on
something the size of a Piet. They are used on KRs and work fine.
