I love those rims! Are they Lexan or something? J/K. Actually the photos you posted were very helpful to me. I am not building a Piet, but have been wondering how the straight axle set up works. Does the axle simply "lay" in the "V" of the steel plate connecting the wooden legs? I know the bungees go in there too, but I always wondered about what attachments there was between the axle and the rest of that structure.... Not quite certain about the compression tension and spring size that I will need which I suspect will be able to absorb 2gs upon touchdown under harsh landing Right now just ideas and considerations. I do expect to begin playing around with the mock up to see how it all fits together John ------Original Message------ From: carson Sender: owner-pietenpol-list-server@matronics.com ReplyTo: Pietenpol builders Board Sent: Apr 15, 2009 7:35 PM Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: wood gear progress Boyce As far as I understand the axle just sits there in the vee I have put a piece of pipe on the inside of the bracket to stop the axle from turning and will put a safety cable incase the bungee fails, nothing new I'm just copying off others before me.
